ARE WE LIVING IN A CONSCIOUS UNIVERSE?

In last month’s blog, Teacher Wei provided an overview of the qi (energy) nature of the universe — how all matter is comprised of qi, as well as all the empty spaces in between. This month, Teacher Wei goes deeper into how consciousness relates to the qi universe and how this can transform your life. He asks you to hold the question, “Are we living in a conscious universe?”

To recap, Qi Science teaches that everything is qi, and there are also different levels of qi. Physical matter is a concentrated form, and all matter, organic and inorganic, has its own intrinsic qi field. The qi that fills the whole universe is comprised of these smaller qi fields, together with a vast field of Original Hun Yuan Qi (OHYQ). OHYQ is a very, very fine and stable form of energy that exists everywhere. It fills everything, including your body.

Within the body, each internal organ has its own unique field. Individual cells do, too. Taken together, the body is a qi field, too, and this is called the “qi body.” Consciousness is the highest level of qi. And all three kinds of qi — bodily qi, consciousness, and OHYQ — are continually merging with and transforming each other. Under general circumstances, OHYQ is a balancing force, equally infusing, supporting, and sustaining everything. Like a mother nourishing her baby. Beyond its intrinsic movements, OHYQ can also be actively mobilized by your consciousness. Meaning, if you consciously connect to it, you can draw more OHYQ to harmonize your body — and heal from the root, inside out.

How can you consciously mobilize OHYQ? Practice direct observation of the empty qi universe. Over time, when your consciousness becomes clear enough, this very subtle dimension of reality will transform your experience of life. Your health will naturally improve, too. And since OHYQ and consciousness are very similar in quality (both being very fine), observing the empty universe means that your consciousness can grow more aware of itself. This is mingjue, which means pure + observation. A high-level practice and life.

Beyond direct observation, you can also practice trust. Trust that OHYQ is everywhere, accessible to you and awaiting your conscious connection to it. If fatigue or distractions arise, just practice emptying your mind, again and again. This isn’t about force, but surrender. After a while, you may realize your consciousness is clearer and more open. The more you can trust, the more peaceful and stable your consciousness becomes; and the more freedom you have to choose the information for your life.

Through continued mingjue practice, you become your own master, and you play an integral role in harmonizing and awakening the qi universe — a qi universe that’s increasingly more aware of itself.

DAILY PRACTICE: N SOUND

Why repeat the n sound? This simple practice is the essence of mingjue consciousness. There is no Chinese character for the sound. There is no meaning. It is pure information. It is just itself.

When you repeat n, the vibration is a movement of invisible qi. It can readily bring you to the present moment into a pure, clear, and peaceful mingjue state.

It can also readily merge the n vibration from within you with the n of the collective field. In this way, the collective field can support your inner state.

Practice: Find a few times during your day to do this for 10-15 minutes. If helpful, set an alarm on your phone during breaks in the day.

Sit upright in a comfortable position. Lift the baihui (crown of the head) up toward the sky, feet planted on the ground. Soften your gaze.

Draw your consciousness back into shenji palace (the center of your head).

Observe your whole qi body. Pure consciousness merges with the whole qi body and observes within to a very subtle level. Be relaxed, be peaceful.

Now say “n…n…n….” Feel mingjue (the inner observer) saying n…n…n….

Observe the n sound appearing clearly in your consciousness. n…n…n…. (Repeat this many times.)

Do not focus on the feeling or the vibration — simply observe n and observe mingjue saying n. n makes mingjue clearer, stabler, simpler. When you say n, the n sound and mingjue are one. There is nothing else.

Continue saying n…n…n…. Stay in the n state with an inner smile. Be aware of each n sound clearly. Be aware of the empty space between each n sound.

When you are finished, hold a qi ball in your palms in front of duqi (the navel). Slowly raise the qi ball up in front of you, to above the head. Turn the palms down toward baihui (crown of the head), then slowly lower palms, pouring qi down through the head, neck, chest, and abdomen. Place palms on duqi.

Rest for a while there.

Always hold the question: Who is saying n?
